Signature of the Visionary

Damaging spells mark an enemy champion. A second distinct damaging spell consumes the mark and causes an area explosion for 40–285 (based on level) + 30% AP magic damage. Each spell can trigger this effect once per target.

menu_bookHow to Play

Early Game

Levels 1–8

Use the Disaster palette to pressure the wave without walking past your own minions. Keep Torment available when an assassin can reach you; spending every control spell on poke removes your safety window. Stirring Lights supports mana management when you can safely land follow-up attacks or spells. Use the outer lane vision before moving to river rather than trusting long range to protect an unseen rotation.
  • Reference build: Blackfire Torch → Infinity Orb → Liandry's Torment → Void Staff → Rabadon's Deathcap.
  • Summoner spells: Flash + Barrier.
  • Use Devastating Fire for a reachable hit, Molten Fissure for zone pressure and Severing Bolt after reliable control or against an isolated damaged target. Its missing-health amplification is now 100/150/200/250%.

Late Game

Levels 9–15

Play around allied control and narrow entrances. Combine distinct damaging spells to trigger the passive and aim the ultimate at a target your team can keep in the fight. In 7.3a the passive is 40–285 + 30% AP and the ultimate explosion is 200/300/400 + 70% AP. Plan for the reduced damage rather than assuming one unsupported combo kills a full-health carry.
  • Boots of Mana support the spell plan. Void Staff answers magic resistance. Consider Banshee’s Veil against an initiating spell or Zhonya’s Hourglass against committed burst instead of automatically buying another damage item.

Counters & Synergies

Fizz
Fizz

His mobility and untargetability can evade a predicted spell sequence and threaten you once control is spent.

Zed
Zed

Shadow angles punish a stationary caster. Keep defensive tools for his commitment rather than trading all cooldowns.

Yasuo
Yasuo

Wind Wall can deny projectile pressure, while minion dashes change his approach angle. Avoid casting everything into the wall.

Max Subject: Disaster (1), then Subject: Torment (3), then Serenity (2). Upgrade Spiraling Despair at levels 5, 9 and 13. Wash Brush cancels a selected palette; it is not the damaging ultimate.

A landed Zenith Blade or Solar Flare gives Hwei a follow-up window; those opening spells still require aim.

Malphite

A multi-target knock-up can create a window for area spells and the ultimate.
