Skarner’s clear is among the fastest in 7.2 thanks to Quaking’s bonus damage to monsters. Path from Red Brambleback into Krugs and into the river — you will usually beat the enemy jungler to Scuttle. Save E for ganks that can end in a wall, because the stun and 35% cooldown refund are what make your early pressure real. Before level 5, look for short invades rather than extended duels.
- Keep auto-attacks rolling between camps to stack Quaking — the 3-stack detonation deletes Krugs and Raptors in two rotations.
- Gank from angles that end in a wall. A charge that knocks the enemy into terrain refunds 35% of E’s cooldown.
- W is your only peel. Pop it as the enemy engages, not after, so the shield absorbs the burst and the AoE slow stops the follow-up.

In teamfights, Skarner’s job is one good Impale. Walk the flank, wait for the enemy carry to step past the frontline, then R — if Shattered Earth is active you will auto-cast Upheaval mid-suppression for a free 40% AoE slow. Use E through the jungle walls to close distance without being kited. You are not a sustained tank; you are a pick machine with a percent-health burn attached.
- Combo: charge with E into wall-stun → R-Impale through the wall → Upheaval mid-suppression. One pick, no counterplay.

Lamb’s Respite creates a death-immunity zone that fully negates Impale. If Skarner R-s someone inside the circle, he burns 1.5s of suppression for nothing.
Morgana
Black Shield blocks Impale. Without his R, Skarner has no hard engage and is reduced to a slow fighter.
Vayne
Silver Bolts shreds Skarner’s HP with percent-health true damage, and Condemn stuns him against walls, exactly where he wants to be.
