Wild Rift Patch 7.3: Live Changes, Hwei and the 7.3a Update

Wild Rift 7.3 launched on September 22, 2026. The latest balance notes checked on October 8 are 7.3a, published September 29. This is now a live-patch guide, replacing our pre-release preview.

Release date and current patch

The date in the schedule is not the release time for every skin, event or regional server. Riot rolls out some content throughout a patch. See the 2026 patch calendar for the major-version schedule.

What changed in 7.3

Hwei joined the roster. The marksman update raised base critical damage to 200%, changed attack-speed scaling and reworked several crit and on-hit item paths. Jungle progression, Smite, waves, structures and Ranked also changed. These are live changes, not remaining preview promises.

Reconsider an ADC build by its job

A new item is not automatically the best first purchase for every marksman. First ask what your champion needs: a short trading window, repeated attacks, spell damage, armor penetration or survival. A crit-based Caitlyn plan and a spell-focused Smolder plan should not be identical merely because both are ADCs.

Read the refreshed Caitlyn build, Yunara build and Smolder build. Use their reference purchases as a starting point and adjust to the damage and control that actually threaten you.

Jungle and waves: convert a lead into the map

Do not reuse an old clear-time target without checking the new Smite behavior. Before contesting an objective, finish a useful recall, move with lane priority and cover enemy entrances. Smite does not replace vision or allied positioning.

After a won fight, decide whether an escorted wave, a structure or an objective gives the stronger next position. Chasing another kill while your wave dies can leave a scoreboard lead with no useful map advantage.

What 7.3a changes about that plan

Hwei lost damage from his passive, two Disaster spells and ultimate explosion. Caitlyn lost attack-speed growth and some Headshot scaling. Draven and Tristana received buffs. Yun Tal Wildarrows gained attack speed, Death’s Dance costs 3300, and Smite’s base monster burn is lower.

That does not establish a universal winner or a measured win rate. It changes the assumptions behind trades and purchases: respect Draven’s early pressure, do not expect Caitlyn’s previous sustained damage, and budget a later Death’s Dance completion.

Hwei: damage is not the only decision

The Hwei Mid guide now uses 7.3a values and distinguishes Spiraling Despair from Wash Brush, the palette-cancel action. Keep control available when a diver can reach you, and follow allied immobilization rather than spending every spell on speculative poke.

Ranked: play for the winning position

The Ranked changes broaden role-specific performance evaluation. They are not a reason to chase a personal rating instead of a winning objective. Track safe rotations, wave preparation and useful follow-up; do not interpret a patch note as proof that a champion belongs in a new tier.

Before your next ranked session

1. Check the current item descriptions, not a screenshot from 7.1 or League PC.
2. Choose boots and defensive purchases for the actual enemy composition.
3. Read the relevant champion guide and its difficult matchups.
4. Review one recurring decision from your games with the match analyzer.
